Construction Worker Killed in Work-Related Accident

|

A workplace accident in Kaukauna, Wisconsin claimed the life of a construction worker on Tuesday. The accident happened at approximately 3 p.m. at a construction site. The victim is a Fox Valley resident and contractor of a construction project designated to expand a Packerland Home Improvement building. Authorities believe that the man was digging a trench as part of the construction, when the trench collapsed trapping the worker. Emergency workers retrieved his body, and he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Authorities are not releasing his identity until next of kin are notified but stated that he was in his 40s. The contracting company was also not named to protect the worker’s identity.

All work environments should be safe, and workers should not be at risk of suffering an injury or fatality. Unfortunately, thousands of individuals are killed annually in workplace accidents, and far more injuries are sustained. Companies located in Missouri are responsible for ensuring the safety of their workers; they are also required to carry worker’s compensation insurance in the event that an accident occurs. The insurance benefits cover the injured worker’s medical bills and lost wages. However, the employer could attempt to challenge the claim and the wages replaced only at a rate of 66.6% of the worker’s average rate. If you have been injured in a workplace accident, it is necessary to contact an experienced St. Louis worker’s compensation attorney.
