Wrongful Death Suit Filed Over STL Musicians Death

|

The 2013 untimely death of St. Louis, Missouri photographer, and musician, Bob Reuter has now led to a wrongful death suit, which has been filed by his sister. In addition, 72-year-old, Virginia Klien filed a civil lawsuit on Tuesday alleging negligence after Reuter fell down an elevator shaft at his building. Likewise, Klien claims that not only the U.S. but also other countries are dealing with the huge loss of her brother and that the premises accident could’ve been prevented.

In the lawsuit, the former property owner, the company that controlled the building where Reuter died, the developer that lived there as well as the elevator manufacturer have all been named in the suit. The place of the elevator accident was located at 1129 St. Charles Street, which is between Washington and St. Charles Streets in downtown St. Louis.

At the time, Rueter was moving into the building when he stepped into a darkened elevator shaft and fell 18 feet to his death. The 100-year-old freight elevator was trying to be shut down by Cathy Strobel, but an unknown person put it back in service. Likewise, although city inspectors had visited the building at least three times within eight months before Reuter died, the tenants of the building continued to use the elevator.
