Wentzville Motorcycle Crash Kills Man

|

An accident involving a motorcycle and an SUV has claimed the life of a man in Wentzville, Missouri. According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, 49-year-old Shawn McCauley was operating his 2002 Yamaha V motorcycle traveling East on Highway A when he was struck by a Mercury Mariner. The Mercury was being operated by 30-year-old Kiana Williams of St. Louis when she turned in front of the motorcyclist causing it to collide with the front of the SUV. Williams and McCauley were both transported to the hospital, or McCauley was pronounced dead. The Missouri Highway Patrol are continuing to investigate the crash, and there has yet to be any citations issued.

According to the Highway Traffic Safety Administration, motorcycle accidents occur 35 times more often than accidents involving other passenger vehicles. Motorcycle accidents may be caused by the recklessness of the motorcyclists; however, it is more common for motorcycle accidents to be caused by another driver. The recklessness and negligence of drivers are typically what causes accidents when another driver is at fault. Aggressive driving, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and driving distractions are all examples of reckless and negligent driving. If you've been injured in a motorcycle accident, it is important to contact an experienced St. Louis motorcycle accident attorney.
