A work-related accident in Jefferson County, Illinois has taken the life of a logging worker. On Tuesday morning, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department responded to calls regarding a work-related accident around 8:02 a.m. According to authorities, 20-year-old worker Quentin Levi Douglas Campbell was severely injured when a tree fell on top of him near Casner Township. Once emergency crews arrived and located Campbell, he was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The accident is being investigated by authorities, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will likely be involved.

Work-related accidents occur every day in the United States, and thousands of workplace accidents are preventable. If you have sustained an injury or lost a loved one in a work-related accident, you are entitled to workers’ compensation benefits. Workers’ compensation is a no-fault insurance stating that you do not have to prove that the injury was caused by the negligence of another person. In Missouri, workers’ compensation benefits provide medical coverage and wage replacement to those injured. Unfortunately, the workers’ wages are replaced at a rate of 66.6% of their weekly wage. It is necessary to contact an experienced St. Louis workers’ compensation attorney in the event that the employer attempts to deny the claim and to recover the maximum financial compensation.
