Repeat DUI Offender Faces Charges in Fatal Crash

|

A 23-year-old man, who caused a fatal crash in November of 2014, is now facing numerous charges for driving under the influence and driving on without a valid driver's license. The accident occurred in St. Charles, Illinois when the driver admitted to the responding authorities that he had snorted heroin just before operating his vehicle. His vehicle struck a 65-year-old woman's vehicle head-on and she died as a result of the injuries she sustained. Blood and urine samples showed that he had much more than just heroin in his system including marijuana, cocaine, and opiates. Three bags of heroin were also found on his person and in his vehicle.

The man's driver's license had been revoked after he was convicted of DUI in 2010. He now faces almost a dozen counts of driving under the influence of drugs, driving on a revoked driver's license, and possession of a controlled substance. The 23-year-old's bail is set for $1 million and his arraignment is scheduled for the end of April. He is currently being held at the jail in Kane County, Illinois.
