An 81 year old man who lived at Fountain of West County died Monday night after being struck by a car near Clayton Road. Authorities say the man was heading to Clarkson Clayton Shopping Center when he stepped out in front of a Cadillac STS. The man driving the vehicle said he didn't see the pedestrian who was wearing dark clothing.

The driver will not face criminal charges. Although the elderly man was taken to a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead soon after arriving. Relatives of the deceased said the man often walked in that area.
