Longtime Alabama Teach Arrested on Sex Abuse Charges
A retired schoolteacher, Daniel Acker, was arrested on child abuse charges after a 12 year old girl came forward claiming the teacher molested her while she was a student of his. When Mr. Acker was questioned by the police about the allegation, he admitted to molesting the girl and admitted that this instance wasn't the first time. Mr. Acker claimed he molested nearly 20 girls. In fact, one instance happened in the classroom according to Mr. Acker. However, he was sure no other children witnessed the abuse. Investigators believe that all of the alleged victims were students in Mr. Acker's class, and Mr. Acker had a very long career in the Alabama school system spanning several decades. However, this charge is not the first in his career. In 1993, he was nearly fired for child molestation charges, but he kept his job narrowly after a grand jury decided not to indict him.
