Many Facebook users were affected by a malicious software created by five Russian men who the authorities have been watching for the last two years. Koobface was the name of the software that directed social media users to nuisance sites such as fake antivirus software and took a fee for each user. The men who created the software are said to have made over two million dollars.
One of those involved in creating the software has been caught by Russian authorities, but the other four individuals are said to still be at large. However, those running Facebook are planning t release information on each of these individuals which authorities fear may jeopardize the investigation and capture of these men.
