The FDA has contacted several oncology practices which bought Avastin from an unapproved distributor. This particular distributor was selling Avastin without its active ingredient. The FDA stated the medication came from an overseas company, Quality Specialty Products, and this company does business in the United States through a Montana company identified as Montana Healthcare Solutions. Some practices were concerned about the Montana company's products after noticing a missing health code label on the pharmaceuticals. When these practices contacted Montana Healthcare Solutions, they stated they were given "the runaround." It is unclear at this point how vast the damage will be to those who were administered the phony medication, but the FDA has stated it will continue to monitor the situation.
