A man was helping put gas in his friend's automobile when he was struck and killed by a semi-truck on Interstate 55. The victim identified as Moustafa Elmansy, 67, was standing on the passenger side of his friend's car when the semi-truck came over the hill hitting and dragging him several hundred feet before being able to come to a safe stop. The accident occurred at 6:40 p.m., and all southbound lanes were closed to enable police to investigate. Authorities have not yet decided to press charges.
