Known Toxic Chemical in Popular Herbicide
"Meyerkord and Meyerkord, a Legacy of Legal Innovation"
A new report, entitled "Roundup and birth defects, Is the public being kept in the dark?" released in early June, claims industry regulators knew of the potentially harmful effects of glyphosate, but have chosen not to take any action. Glyphosate is the chemical name for a key compound in Roundup herbicide. According to the report, regulators may have known of the chemical's tendency to cause birth defects in lab animals as early as 1980. The report contends that while there was knowledge of the issue, information was not made public.
Additionally, despite conflicting evidence of its safety, the chemical, originally set to be reviewed by the European Commission in 2012, has been pushed back to 2015.
The abundance of products containing these chemicals on the market means there is a possibility that people may be exposed to toxic chemicals. Exposure to toxins can cause many problems with the human body, including: birth defects, cancers and a host of other medical issues. If you believe that you have been exposed to a toxin and may have suffered an injury, you may be able to recover for your damages. The St. Louis personal injury attorneys at Meyerkord and Meyerkord, LLC have extensive experience with personal injury and may be able to help you receive the compensation you deserve if you have been exposed to a potentially harmful product.
